People loved to be entertained, and the Romans did it in style. One of their favorite forms of entertainment was chariot racing. Many of the men who drove the chariots became famous during their careers. They could also become very rich if they were good at winning and pleasing the crowd. These events were the equivalent of modern car races. Spectators had their favorites and there was heavy betting on the outcome. Today, while chariots are no longer raced, modern man still enjoys this form of entertainment. Racing horses and cars has continued to gain in popularity as a form of entertainment.
